LIFE WITHOUT GLASSES
Dr. Robert Maloney believes that a well-informed patient is key to successful vision correction surgery. He wants to be sure that you fully understand what you can expect from your procedure you choose. He wants to help you care for and preserve your eyesight in the best way possible. Here, you can find the information that you need to help you make informed choices about health care for your eyes.
UNDERGOING THE LIMBAL RELAXING INCISION PROCEDURE
If you are having limbal relaxing incision as a stand-alone procedure, the process is very similar to LASIK. You will receive an oral sedative, if you wish. Your eye will be cleaned with a sterilizing solution. You will be taken into the procedure room, where you will lie down on a reclining chair. The surgeon will numb your eye and insert an eyelid speculum, which holds the eye open so you won’t blink during the procedure. Using a diamond-bladed knife, the surgeon will make the incisions to correct your astigmatism. The procedure is painless because the eye is numb. From beginning to end, the procedure takes just a couple of minutes.
If you are having limbal relaxing incisions in combination with another procedure, like RLE, the procedure is the same. Your experience won’t change, and you won’t be aware when the surgeon makes the incisions. Making the incisions adds an additional thirty seconds to the main procedure.
